Each luxurious room features expansive views over Prestonfield's secluded gardens and parkland to Edinburgh's iconic hill, Arthur's Seat, over the adjacent golf course and Royal Holyrood Park or to the historic ruins of Craigmillar castle. Some rooms feature views in two directions. Lord Provost Suite:
This romantic and opulent suite recalls Prestonfield's origin as the grand home of the city's Lord Provost. With walls lined in red velvet, reminiscent of the Lord Provost's ceremonial robes, guests will find every indulgence in this sumptuous and luxurious suite including a romantic four poster bed. This luxurious five-star suite features views over parkland to Arthur's Seat from both the double bedroom and separate sitting room. The romantic bedroom is richly decorated in dramatic reds and features an antique mahogany four poster bed, lavishly hung with red and gold velvets. The bedroom also features a media cabinet with 36' plasma TV & DVD, a desk and seating. This large and opulent suite takes its name from Winston Churchill who was a regular visitor to Edinburgh and noted bon viveur. Allan Ramsay Suite:
Allan Ramsay was the most celebrated artist of his day and court painter to George III A regular visitor to Prestonfield, in 1736 he embarked on a Grand Tour of Europe with Prestonfield's then owner, Sir Alexander Dick. The painted scenes in Prestonfield's Italian room still provide a sumptuous souvenir of those travels. Our twenty-first century guests now find every indulgence, from a four-poster bed to a decadently furnished sitting room in this sumptuous suite. One of Prestonfield's largest suites, the Ramsay has views of gardens and parkland from both the large double bedroom and spacious separate sitting room. The bedroom is chic and elegant, in amethyst and ivory with a four poster bed, deep French chaise and media cabinet with plasma TV. Walls of dramatic silk toile, grand seventeeth-century furniture and antique chests ensure that the separate sittingroom is a memorable location to relax, work or entertain. Ben Franklin Suite:
This large and opulent suite takes its name from Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of the United States who visited Prestonfield in the eighteenth century Twenty-first century guests now find every indulgence in this sumptuous suite, from a huge silver-leaf sleigh bed, to a decadently furnished sitting room. One of Prestonfield's largest and most luxurious five-star suites, the Franklin has views of the gardens and parkland from both the large double bedroom and spacious separate sitting room.The bedroom is chic and elegant, decorated in black and pewter brocades, with a huge silver leaf sleigh bed, a seating area with antique chaise-longue and a media cabinet with 36' plasma TV & DVD. Walls of dramatic trompe-l'oeil drapery, bold classical furniture and dramatic black lacquer all ensure that the separate sittingroom is a memorable location to relax, work or entertain. Both rooms are fully air-conditioned, have wi-fi and feature media cabinets with large plasma TVs, DVDs and Bose sound systems. The Franklin Suite features two bathrooms; an en-suite and a second guest bathroom lined in marble and black and gold Venetian glass mosaic.
The Owners Suite:
Prestonfield's premier suite is located in the most historic part of Prestonfield, in rooms traditionally reserved by former owners for their personal use. Prestonfield' most opulent and indulgent suite is entered from a private turret stair and hallway. Dramatic and romantic, this lavishly furnished suite comprises entrance lobby, bedroom with library-style bathroom and large separate sittingroom. There are views over Prestonfield's parkland and gardens in three directions, including the romantic ruins of Craigmillar castle from the bathroom. A lavishly-draped, domed four-poster bed, complete with ostrich plumes, is the centrepiece of the opulent bedroom, which also features a second plasma TV and seating area. Both rooms are fully air-conditioned, have wi-fi and feature media cabinets with large plasma TVs, DVDs and Bose sound systems and i-pod docking. The dramatic library-style bathroom is lined with books and darkest red marble. It features a huge freestanding silver chariot bath large enough for two, with rainfall shower above and a large window with views to the ruins of Craigmillar castle.
