Painstakingly restored between 2003 and 2007, Gasthof Hirschen was declared Historic Hotel of the Year in 2009. Its rooms, suites and public areas feature exquisite period décor, with the typical ambience of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, combined with all the modern amenities guests could wish for. Fine cuisine is not forgotten at Gasthof Hirschen, and the hotel's gastronomic restaurant, La Passion, boasts a Michelin star and seventeen Gault-Millau points. Here, Chef Christian Kuchler offers his unique interpretation of classical French 'haute cuisine', contemporary and creative.

Gasthof Hirschen's unique situation, strategically placed between the river Rhine and well-tended vineyards, means that it is ideal for exploring this beautiful region of eastern Switzerland. Eglisau itself is a charming historic village, with many 17th century buildings, an 18th century church and a fascinating museum set in an outstanding baroque building. Numerous hiking and biking trails wind their way through the vineyards and along the river banks, and river cruises depart from the quay beside the hotel.

Double Room:
First, second and third-floor rooms with stuccoed ceilings, doors in walnut wood, hand-painted wardrobes dating from the 18th century and modern bathrooms. Free mineral water and free fruit are at guests' disposal. Some rooms offer views of the Rhine. One king-size bed. Room size 29 sq m. Extra beds are not available in these rooms.

Junior Suites
Festival Suite:
A former banquet room stretching over the entire floor from the town side to the river side. It has hand-painted ceilings, walls and window bays, and a bathroom with a nostalgic tub. The furniture dates back to the 17th and 18th century.
Belle Epoque Suite:
A large room dating from 1860 featuring an impressive stuccoed ceiling. It offers panoramic views over the Rhine River. The living/bedroom is painted in reddish tones and features period furniture. It comes with a spacious bathroom.
Each suite comes with a Nespresso coffee machine, free mineral water and fresh fruit. One king-size bed. Room size 48 sq m. Extra beds are not available in these rooms.

Suites
Green Suite:
A large suite dating from the 18th century with green Baroque wall panels, and a carved wooden clock case. There is a separate bedroom with a stuccoed ceiling and a modern bathroom. It offers views of the town.
Panelled Suite:
A spacious suite with original Baroque wooden wall panels and a historic ceiling originating from the Obermühle watermill in Embrach. It also features a Baroque window column from the ruined powder magazine in Eglisau. Both rooms feature period furniture. Each suite comes with a Nespresso coffee machine, free mineral water and fresh fruit. One king-size bed, one sofa bed. Suite size 55 sq m.
