Situated just five kilometres from the pretty coastal town of Ortigueira, El Castaño Dormilón is ideal for exploring this spectacular corner of Galicia. Ortigueira itself is famous for its folk music festival, held every July, and there are a seemingly endless number of fabulous beaches, coves and cliffs around the area of Cabo Ortegal. Outdoor activities available nearby include canoeing on the Sor river, horse riding and hiking on the coastal trails. Surfers will also find great waves on many of the local beaches.

Standing before a delightful garden, El Castaño Dormilón has been restored with the utmost care and respect for the environment, and uses renewable, biomass and solar energy in its installations. It has just eleven comfortably furnished rooms, all featuring exposed stone walls, noble wood floors and ceilings, and fine natural fabrics.
