Description: Albion House at RamsgateBuilt in 1791, the history of Albion House, Ramsgate is rich and colourful. As you would expect from a house which entertained royalty, politicians, actors and the wealthy, Albion House, Ramsgate sits in pride of place on top of the East cliff. Looking out over Albion Gardens and out to sea there are stunning views of the Royal Harbour - the only one in the country. The harbour was given its status of "Royal Harbour" by King George IV as a gift for the hospitality he received when visiting Ramsgate in 1820.Townleys located in Albion House, right beside the sea in Ramsgate. The restaurant is composed of elegant Georgian rooms overlooking Ramsgate's Royal Harbour and the impressive Mayors' Chamber. Our food philosophy is to buy the best you can find and prepare dishes in a simple and uncomplicated way. Our menus change regularly and reflect the ingredients which our suppliers feel are the best on offer on the day you visit us. Type of rooms: Albion House at RamsgateFrom our accessible Terrace room through to the cosy rooms in the eaves of the house, there are shapes and sizes to suit all. Of our fourteen rooms, twelve have direct sea views, so the only question for you to answer is from what vantage point do you want to survey the glory of the beach and the harbour beneath you.Suite with sea view and balcony: This suite on the first floor puts you in an elevated position and offers you everything the best room in the Isle of Thanet should. Watch the sunrise in the morning whilst taking coffee on your east-facing balcony, and move to the harbour facing side of the balcony to catch the last of the sun partaking in the evening?s first glass of wine. The little Victoria Room: This room, also known as the Little Victoria Room where Princess Victoria recuperated in 1835, there are very high ceilings with elegant, Georgian doors leading out on to the Regency balcony. A super king sized bed, harbour views and the last of the setting sun means this bedroom has a great deal to offer. King with sea view: We describe these rooms as "cosy" because they are slightly smaller than the magnificent rooms on the first and second floor. Lighting, furniture and interior décor have been carefully considered when looking at how to maximise this space. As you would expect, the views are very special from the top of Albion House with many describing these rooms as the prettiest and most romantic. Super-King sea view: This describes three of our fourteen rooms that you will find on the second floor. Sensitively refurbished, the spacious rooms have double glazed sash windows, are fully carpeted and are elegantly and simply decorated. With stunning sea views, these rooms perfectly capture the luxurious feel of Albion House. Super-King accessible room: This is our fully accessible room. Reached by taking the lift from the ground floor you get to experience much of the building's original features on the way to your spacious, comfortable room with an external lower-ground floor terrace. The terrace room is a luxurious space with excellent wheelchair access and bathroom facilities. Additional information: Albion House at RamsgatePublic parking is available at a nearby location.
