Description: La Posta VecchiaPerched beside the sea and standing in a magnificent ornamental garden, La Posta Vecchia is a fabulous 17th century palace, built on the foundations of a Roman villa. Once the property of John Paul Getty, this spectacular property offers five star accommodation and exclusive dinging in privileged surroundings. Guests can enjoy magnificent works of art in the rooms and lounges of the hotel, and view the spectacular foundations and other finds from the original Roman villa.Located beside the historic Castello Odescalchi, and a few kilometres from Ladispoli, La Posta Vecchia offers guests an immense number of facilities and services for a splendid stay. These include a private beach area, a tennis court and a wellness centre offering a range of treatments and massages. There is also a splendid indoor swimming pool with views over the sea. For activities outside the property, the concierge service offers a huge range of bespoke activities, ranging from golf and diving to helicopter trips and Tailor Two itineraries. La Posta Vecchia is home to a fine gourmet restaurant, the Cesar. Holder of a Michelin Star since 2007, and two Gambero Rosso forks since 2010. Chef Michelino Gioia creates Mediterranean dishes with authentic, natural and seasonal ingredients, many of which are grown in the hotel's own organic kitchen garden. Exclusive cooking classes can also be arranged, under the masterful guidance of the executive chef himself. They are decorated in a classic, contemporary style, and the bathrooms with bath or shower are laid with Italian tiles painted by Italian craftsmen. Superior Deluxe: The six superior deluxe rooms are located on the ground floor, first and second floors. The rooms overlook the lovely garden. Furnishings are Renaissance style, and the bathrooms have a travertine, marble or ceramic bath or shower. King-size bed, maximum number of guests: 2 to 3. Room size: 28 to 43 sq m. Superior Deluxe Sea View: The sea breeze wafts in through the large windows, bringing with it the fragrances of the garden. There are three Superior Deluxe suites located on the first floor and all look out onto the sea. The Renaissance-style interiors are decorated with precious antiques. The bathrooms are in travertine, marble and ceramics. King-size bed, maximum number of guests: 2. Room size: 33 to 38 sq m. Junior Suite: There are three junior suites, overlooking the Italian garden or the sea. All are located on the first floor or on the upper floors of the towers. Two of the junior suites have an attic roof, along with medieval windows with a view of the sea. The furnishings include 17th-century Italian antiques, and the bathrooms have a Tuscan terracotta and travertine bath. King-size bed, maximum number of guests: 2 to 6. Room size: 40 to 70 sq m. Senior Red Suite: This suite reflects J. Paul Getty's character and love of beauty. It has two bathrooms, one of which is covered entirely with mirrors and rare grey marble. The furnishings are primarily red, in a balanced mix between antique and contemporary style, and are completed with modern technology to keep guests connected. Senior Olive Suite: Located on the first floor of the villa, this suite has a spectacular sea view and is decorated with Renaissance furnishings and antiques from J. P. Getty's collection, such as the 17th-century sculpture of a saint in prayer and the late 19th-century medallion of the Virgin and child. King-size bed, maximum number of guests: 2 to 3. Room size: 55 sq m. Senior Castello Suite: The windows on one side of the suite look towards Castello Odescalchi, while on the other they overlook the sea. On summer mornings, fishermen can be seen at work. The walls are decorated with a collection of 18th-century prints of exceptional Roman villas. The incredibly beautiful green and white marble bathroom is an example of 19th-century luxury craftsmanship. King-size bed, maximum number of guests: 2. Room size: 59 sq m. Master Medici Suite: It is said that Mr Getty's partner adored the 17th-century Spanish bed and the magnificent pink marble bath nestled snugly between two staircases. The living room is adorned with a hand-decorated pale wood fireplace and a bookcase containing a precious collection of Meissen plates. King-size bed, maximum number of guests: 2 to 5. Room size: 94 sq m. Master Getty Suite: This was the largest room in the house, and was used by J. Paul Getty whenever he stayed at the villa. Everything in this suite is precious: the inlaid oak ceiling, the furnishings from the 15th and 17th centuries, the white marble bathroom, and the paintings on the walls. The living room has an imposing 17th-century cabinet and a desk with a laptop computer with complimentary Wi-Fi for guests' use. How to get here: From Rome city centre, follow the OVEST (west) signs for the ROMA-FIUMICINO motorway. At the A12 junction, head towards CIVITAVECCHIA and continue until the CERVETERI-LADISPOLI exit. Exit the motorway, then turn right towards LADISPOLI (third exit). At the roundabout, head towards ROMA and take the third exit at ROMA-LADISPOLI. At the roundabout take SS1 towards ROMA. Continue until kilometre 37, then turn right towards LADISPOLI. After the overpass, follow the sign for LADISPOLI at the roundabout. After a second overpass, go downhill and make a U-turn at the roundabout. Keep to the right and merge onto Strada Comunale di Palo, following the signs for La Posta Vecchia. From Naples, take the A1 motorway towards Rome, then exit at the Roma Sud interchange. Follow the Grande Raccordo Anulare (ring road) towards Ovest Roma Fiumicino. Follow the motorway until you reach the A12 Civitavecchia interchange and take the Cerveteri-Ladispoli exit. From Florence, take the A1 motorway towards Roma-Svincolo Nord to the Settebagni interchange. Continue travelling west on the Grande Raccordo Anulare (ring road), then take the Roma Fiumicino motorway to the A12 Civitavecchia interchange. Follow the motorway to the Cerveteri-Ladispoli exit.
