Description: Kilworth House Hotel and TheatreNestled in 38 acres of South Leicestershire parkland, Kilworth House Hotel and Theatre is a unique property, set in a magnificent late Victorian Italianate mansion, originally built for the High Sheriff of Leicestershire. With just three different owners in 120 years, this beautiful estate was painstakingly and lovingly restored between 1999 and 2003, and now offers luxurious accommodation, fine dining and a unique outdoor theatre in a delightful rural location.Kilworth House Hotel and Theatre is host to a number of award-winning dining venues, including the Grade II listed Victorian Orangery, and the sumptuous Wordsworth Restaurant, the proud holder of two AA Rosettes. The emphasis in both restaurants is on using the finest locally sourced produce and ingredients in an imaginative and innovative way, with carefully selected wines for each dish. Opened in 2007, Kilworth House Theatre is a magnificent facility with sail-like canopies that protect the audience and performers from adverse weather. Top-class productions are performed every season, of a standard rarely seen away from the West End of London. Each room offers a trouser press, ironing board and in-room safe, as well as tea and coffee making facilities, digital televisions and DVD players. The bathrooms come complete with traditional Heritage style fittings and also offer Clarins products. The rooms consist of both twin bedded and king size double bedded rooms. Two provide disabled facilities, and two twins interconnect with double rooms for family flexibility. Room dimensions: 27 sq m. Luxury Rooms The Oscar Wilde: Located at the top of the main oak staircase, The Oscar Wilde Room offers bold shades of terracotta to complement the solid wooden furniture, including the elaborately carved bed as the centre-piece, with views over the terrace to rolling parkland and beyond. The dressing room leads to the raised bathroom with roll top bath and large walk-in shower, with views including a close up of the intricate iron work, woodwork and stained glass of the Victorian Orangery. Room dimensions: 41 sq m. The Keats: Located in the West wing of the main house, The Keats Room offers luxury with a European feel. The Swedish furniture is light in colour to complement the room's soft blue-green colours. The television can be found inside a doll's house replica of Kilworth House, and the spacious luxury bathroom with roll top bath and large walk-in shower completes the luxury of this room. The views are of the main approach to the portico of the main house. Room dimensions: 41 sq m. The Milton: Located at the top of the main oak staircase, The Milton Room is decorated in shades of blue and cream, offering space and luxury with a European feel. The dressing area leads to the raised bathroom with roll top bath and large walk-in shower. The views are over the terrace flower beds to rolling parkland and beyond, and the lamp fitting shaped like a hot air balloon gives a real appreciation of the height of the rooms in the main house. The furnishings are in duck egg blue with shades of silver and brown. The half-tester bed, glass bulbous lamps and deep pile carpet offer an instant welcome, and the raised wet room is also a memorable aspect. The views reveal the wild-flower garden across open parkland and occasionally across to the lake within the grounds. Room dimensions: 41 sq m. The J.M. Barrie: This spacious room in the garden wing offers an air of fun from the outset. The wardrobe doors inlaid with gentlemen's outfits provide laughter and intrigue. The half tester bed, deep seated chairs and restful colours help you drift into a moment of relaxation, while the raised wet room is another memorable aspect. The views reveal the wild-flower garden across open parkland and occasionally across to the lake within the grounds. Room dimensions: 41 sq m. The Shelley: Located at the end of the West wing of the house, The Shelley Room is very convenient for the guest lift. The spacious bedroom with painted furniture is designed in pale relaxing shades of blue and pink. The bathroom has a corner bath and a large walk-in shower, and the views reveal the main approach to the portico area of the house. Room dimensions: 46 sq m. The Stevenson: Located in the corner of the main landing of the house, The Stevenson Room is more like a suite, comprising of a large bedroom area, separate sitting room and spacious bathroom with roll top bath and large walk-in shower, overlooking the roof of the impressive Victorian Orangery. The bedroom and sitting room enjoy views of the knot garden with water features below. Away from all other rooms, The Stevenson offers untold peace and quiet. Room dimensions: 46 sq m. The Bronte: This spacious room located in the garden wing is more like a suite. The bedroom with adjoining sitting area is furnished in modern shades of pink and lime. The Tennyson: Located in the West wing of the house, The Tennyson Room is probably the quirkiest of all of the rooms at Kilworth House. There are separate areas for sleeping and sitting, with a small cloakroom located close to the entrance door. A staircase then ascends to the luxury bathroom, comprising of a toilet area in a small room to the side, a roll-top bath in the centre of the room and large walk-in shower to the side. Room dimensions: 58 sq m. Four-Poster Rooms The Kipling: Having climbed the original oak staircase with stained glass window, The Kipling Room is located at the end of the main landing hallway. Decorated in rich dark green colours complemented by burgundy hues, this room immediately reflects its rural location, with views of the Victorian walkway leading to the wooded area of the estate. The adjoining sitting room offers space to relax and enjoy a cup of tea or watch the television, located in a replica doll's house of Kilworth House. The spacious bathroom with roll top bath and large walk-in shower is the perfect place to unwind. Room dimensions: 54 sq m. The Marlowe: Situated in the corner of the main landing at the top of the imposing oak staircase is the Marlowe Room. This light and airy room offers views of both the Victorian walkway and the open rolling parkland. The four-poster bed with feather plumes was moved to Kilworth House from its original location at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire. The armoire with hidden mirrors provides the perfect view of that all-important outfit, or you can relax in one of the room's sumptuous chairs.
