How to get here: Getting from Cancun to Almaplena Eco Resort & Beach Club in Costa Maya will require a travel time of approximately 4 hours car drive. From Cancun airport drive south, in the direction of Chetumal on highway 307, which is the main highway, and crosses the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico. You will pass through the towns of Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Continue driving south and after 290 kilometers (180 miles) you will pass through the small village of Limones. After Limones you'll see a sign indicating a turn to the left for Mahahual. Turn left here and continue for a half hour drive on a very good road through the mangroves. After 31 miles (50 Kilometers) you'll see a junction where you will turn to the right (this is the road heading to Xcalak but don't worry it's correct). Keep driving for others 10 minutes (about 10 miles/16 Kilometers) until you'll see the sign Punta Herradura where you'll turn left. Just continue 5 more minutes (2 miles) until the end of the road and turn left, pass by a peach colored house and after 109 yards (100 meters) you can already see Almaplena Eco Beach Resort.
Directions from Chetumal: Getting from Chetumal to Almaplena Eco Resort & Beach Club in Costa Maya will require a travel time of 1hr. and 30 min. Leave Chetumal going towards Cancun on the highway 307, which is the main road and pass through the towns of Huay-Pix, then Xul-Ha and Bacalar. After you pass through Bacalar you will get to Pedro Santos village (you may be able to identify it because of the ladies selling pineapple on both sides of the road) and after a few kilometers you will see a turnoff on the right with clear signs indicating the way to Mahahual. Continue for a half hour drive on a very good road through the mangroves. After 31 miles (50 Kilometers) you'll see a junction where you will turn to the right (this is the road heading to Xcalak but don't worry it's correct). Keep driving for others 10 minutes (about 10 miles/16 Kilometers) until you'll see the sign Punta Herradura where you'll turn left.
