Carefully restored from this historic building, carved into the typical limestone of the region, Corte San Pietro now offers exclusive bed and breakfast accommodation in a unique setting.Perfectly located for exploring Matera and its fascinating history, Corte San Pietro is just a stone's throw from the Madonna de Idris cave church, while the 14th century San Pietro Caveoso is also a few steps away. Other fabulous landmarks and monuments include the cathedral and the Tramontano Castle. Set in the heart of the Murgia Materana natural park, Matera is an ideal starting point for countless activities, including horse riding, cycling and trekking. On request, guest may visit La Luna dal Pozzo, a fascinating system of eight underground cisterns, once used for collecting rainwater. Corte San Pietro has just five rooms and suites, all sympathetically restored using original natural stone, ancient timber and antique furniture. Modern amenities have not been forgotten, and the rooms feature ingenious cooling and heating systems, especially created to eliminate the humidity of these underground dwellings. The rooms are also equipped with Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Type of rooms: Corte San PietroClassic Matrimoniale:This is a Double room with antique wooden ceiling beams, a writing table in century-old chestnut, and a bathroom with a large shower. Room size approximately 18 sq m. Deluxe Loft Matrimoniale: A Loft with a window facing the Madonna de Idris cave church. Bathroom with stone bathtub and a large shower for couples. One extra bed can be added on request. Room size approximately 35 sq m. Suite della Scala: A Romantic suite, with cross arches and a skylight. It features a writing table in century-old chestnut wood, a bed and a maxi shower in a cave. One or two extra beds available on request. Room size 37 sq m. Suite Relax with Chromo-therapy: This suite has a chromo-therapy shower in a cave opposite the bed, and a bathroom with a shelf in century-old chestnut wood. The suite comes with a mini-bar, shower slippers and complimentary toiletries.One or two extra beds available on request.Room size 38 sq m. Grand Suite: This is a large room with a barrel vault, a bathroom excavated from the rock and a large stone bathtub with maxi shower-head. Baby sitting is available on prior notice. Corte San Pietro recommends that guests wear comfortable walking shoes. Reception is open from 08:30am. to 09:30pm. Parking & Arrival by car: the whole Sassi districts are limited to traffic. It is possible to reach Corte San Pietro from Monday to Friday (but festivities), unload your luggage and go and park outside of the Sassi districts. It is no longer possible to drive down in the Sassi districts on Saturdays, Sundays, and festivities. To reach Corte San Pietro by car, send your car details (plate, holder). The registration of your car allows you to drive for a maximum of two times (only for the check-in and check-out) through the area of the Sassi districts and not through the other controlled traffic areas. Parking: If you park first and then walk down to the hotel, there are several possibilities. Charges may apply and vary. Multistorey covered parking lot in Via Pasquale Vena (450 meters away from Corte Santo Pietro) about 0,50 EUR/hour. Valet parking with the garage “Damasco” with car pick-up for EUR 20 per day (EUR 25 in the high season). Park in Recinto XX Settembre, they will then give you a lift down to the hotel with your luggage. Service is available until 8:30pm |
