Within easy walking distance of all of Mangonui's most important attractions, including many 150 year-old buildings, Mill Bay, the Rangikapiti Pa site, an ancient Maori Fort with fabulous views and of course the famous Mangonui Fish and Chip Shop. Sailing, fishing and dive trips can be arranged from Mangonui Harbour.

This beautiful small hotel features just six rooms - three suites, two premium studios, and a standard room. This listed heritage building has been entirely modernised with new bathrooms, lighting, plumbing, and insulation and has been decorated with a contemporary mix of modern and country. All rooms, other than the sall standard room, have modern heating and cooling systems and the three suites also feature kitchenettes. This charming property features a colonial inspired garden with organic herb and vegetable beds, a formal rose garden, a petanque court, harbour view verandas and a courtyard nestled in the hillside of native bush and ferns. Guests can relax in the gardens and on the verandas in a private and tranquil setting.

Totara Room - Garden View Studio:
The Totara Studio is a small standard room with a view to the garden and the totem poles built from The Old Oak's original totara timber footings. The room features high ceilings, a double bed, a flat-screen TV, easy chair, closet, small refrigerator, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The bathroom is modern, light, and airy with high ceilings and a shower. Maximum occupancy: one.
Tui Studio - Garden View Studio:
This large luxury studio features the highest ceilings in the hotel, stained glass French doors that open to a private enclosed garden patio, stylish floor-to-ceiling drapes, a super king-size bed, flat-screen TV, lounge chair, small refrigerator, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The very large bathroom features a shower and an ornamental fireplace. This studio has a modern heating and cooling system.
Kauri Studio - Garden View Studio:
The Kauri Garden Studio is a large luxury studio featuring the kauri mantle that surrounded the original Old Oak cooking fireplace, now framing the headboard. Looking up through the skylight, guests can see the original chimney. The room has a super king-size bed, a flat-screen TV, two lounge chairs, a small refrigerator, and tea and coffee-making facilities. There is also a modern heating and cooling system. The studio has high board and batten ceilings and a modern bathroom with bathtub and shower above. A stained glass back door leads to a garden and bush view patio.
Ruru Suite - Harbour View Two-bedroom Suite:
The petite two-bedroom suite is upstairs with harbour views from the main bedroom and access to the upper front veranda with its comfortable lounge chairs and expansive views. The cosy central lounge includes a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and tea and coffee-making facilities. In the lounge, there is a table and chairs, two easy chairs, and a flat screen TV with 40 channel cable. The main bedroom has a king-size bed and a dressing table, a telephone for local calls, radio alarm clock, night stands and stylish bedside lamps. The smaller second bedroom has one single bed, an armoire, and a modern rocking chair. The suite includes a small standard bathroom with a shower. The Ruru Suite has modern climate control for heating and cooling. Children over the age of eight. Maximum three persons.
Pohutukawa Suite - Harbour and Garden View Suite:
The Pohutukawa luxury suite is a spacious ground floor suite with harbour and garden views and a large side veranda. The veranda has a table and chairs and is shaded during the afternoon. This is a favourite spot for sitting with a cup of tea, a good book, or a glass of wine and enjoying the harbour and garden views. The room features a lounge area with two easy chairs, flat-screen TV, super king-size bed, and has wall-to-wall carpeting. There is an ample kitchenette with a sink, microwave, fridge, toaster, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a table and chairs. The stylish bathroom features a luxurious bathtub in a tile surround, heater, and separate shower. There is a large closet with a dresser for guests' convenience. The Pohutukawa Suite has modern climate control.
Ponga Suite - Harbour and Garden View Suite:
The Ponga Harbour view suite with its original polished kauri timber floors is a two room luxury suite that is upstairs with views across the harbour and over the gardens and bush. There is a veranda that wraps around two sides of the suite and charming veranda doors in every room, including the luxurious bathroom. In the lounge room, there are large comfortable chairs that can pull out into chaise lounges or day beds, a flat-screen TV, and a table and chairs. In the bedroom there is a super king-size bed, a closet, dresser, and a separate alcove that contains a kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee and tea facilities. The bathroom features a vintage claw-foot bathtub, modern vanity and shower, a window with views of the bush, and a veranda door with garden and harbour views. The Ponga Suite has modern climate control.
