This unique property is located just three-hundred metres from the Trondheimsfjord in Brekstad, and is situated in a carefully restored former domestic science school, originally built in 1923. Hovde Gård now offers charming boutique accommodation and fine dining in a spectacular heritage setting.

There is a ferry port at Brekstad, and boat trips can also be arranged. Nearby landmarks include the Austrått castle, and guests can play rounds of golf at the Austrått golf course. The hotel also offers a unique range of facilities, including a spa and wellness centre in the cellar of the main house. This features a gym, relaxation room, Jacuzzi and sauna.

Hovde Gård's restaurant, the Fjøset, serves an a la carte menu that features typical fare related to the original school and associated culinary traditions, combined with international cuisine. The restaurant's cosy timber walled atmosphere is quite unique, as is the style of service. Herring features heavily on the menu, and there is also an extensive herring buffet. The Toppen Bar is a cosy Chesterfield style bar, located on the third floor of the main house in the former gym hall.

Main House Rooms:
The Main House has one apartment with an en-suite bathroom, and a total of 11 hotel rooms on the second floor. The house's unique history has been retained in the original sanitary facilities. There are three separate shower rooms and toilets on the hall, and a bathroom with shower, toilet and bath, just like in the days of the school for domestic science.
All rooms are equipped with a washbasin and mirror in a classic style; a hair dryer is also available. To 'dress' guests for visits to the shower and toilet facilities, all rooms come with slippers and bath robes.
The Porter's Lodge Rooms:
The Porter's Lodge was originally used as the estate manager's home, but following the war it was converted into an arts and crafts room and flats for teachers and management.
Today the building has 5 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, a living room and a dining room. The house is ideal for small course groups and holiday accommodation.
Annexe Rooms:
The Annexe was built in 1956 and was used for teaching arts and crafts, as well as staff accommodation and guest rooms. The building has now been transformed into 18 hotel rooms with en-suite bathrooms.
An underground tunnel makes it possible to move 'indoors' between the Annexe and Main House. All rooms come with slippers, robes, hair dryers, TV, safe and free Internet access.
The Barn:
Seventeen new rooms were opened in the Barn in August 2014. As the name suggests, the rooms retain features from the traditional low-constructed building, and each room in the Barn has its own style. All rooms have slippers, robes, hair dryers, TV, safe and free Internet access.
