Capital of Norway, in the south of this country cut by fjords, Oslo is a city that looks to the future with high social and ecological awareness.
Seated in the depths of a fjord and surrounded by hills, it enjoys the exuberance of the green and blue of the sea as a natural heritage. In this splendid framework, contemporary architecture and cultural facilities have propelled the transformation of the seafront during the last decades. In the port area of Bjorvika, the Oslo Opera House, with a spectacular walkable deck, is an emblem of change. Likewise are the new Munch Museum and the Oslo Public Library headquarters.

This cultural spirit is riveted by an active theatrical and artistic scene. If you go up to the top of Mount Ekeberg you will get a good overview of the city. The scene that inspired Edvard Munch to paint his famous painting The Scream is also visible. A cruise on the Oslo Fjord offers a wonderful panorama of small coastal towns and islands.
The peninsula of Bygdoy houses several museums devoted to its history, such as that of the Norwegian People and that of the Viking Ships. If your weather is typical of a Nordic country, it is a very welcoming capital of human dimensions. The fame carved by its chefs has also made it a contemporary gastronomic capital. |
