The name Cascais brings to mind great European royal houses, starting with the Portuguese. Located on the Atlantic coast 25 km from Lisbon, and converted into an aristocratic holiday destination during the last century, it is one of the towns that embellish the Portuguese country. Its charm combines an old town full of historical monuments with a coast of wonderful beaches that invite you to relax.
The Guincho beach, 8 km from Cascais, with its steep waves of the Atlantic has become a mecca for surfers. The northern beaches are limited to the Sintra-Cacais Natural Park, preserving its wild and rugged nature.

Boca do Inferno is composed of a natural landscape of great beauty with cliffs eroded by the ocean. The Promenade between Cascais and Estoril, with lavish 19th-century mansions, testifies to the splendor of another era. Open to the public, the Casa de Santa Maria, next to the blue lighthouse, is one of those magnificent villas where decorative tilework stands out. In the gardens of the public park Marechal Carona is the Museum of the Counts of Castro Guimaraes, set in another old stately residence.
The proximity to Lisbon allows you to make day trips from Cascais. The charming boutique hotels of this coast are just to fall in love with. |

The hotel is situated between "Boca do Inferno" and the Marina of Cascais and is an innovative hotel on the edge of the sea. In the past Farol mansion was the home of nobles and aristocrats, but it was converted into a design hotel by Carlos Miguel Dias who led a bold architectural project which involved the building of a new more modern part of the hotel. This contrast worked in harmony with its surroundings and created a bridge between the old and new, the past and future. The original mansion is located on the edge of Santa Marta as is the lighthouse. The mansion was originally built in the late 1880's Cascais huddles around a colourful bay, its silhouette outlines buildings towering above old-fashioned 19th Century town houses. The town has elegant shopping streets, refreshing esplanades with cheerful views of dozens of fishing boats and sailing yachts. The charming old part of town has small houses, narrow alleys and cobbled streets. The moderate climate and natural beauty make the Estoril coast a welcoming place. This beautiful coastline has fine sandy beaches which dot the shore, and lush countryside that climbs uphill towards mountains.
Cascais became the favourite beach resort of the Portuguese royal family and its nobles. In the 30's when tourism seriously spread beyond boarders, this coast became known worldwide. This aura still prevails today with countless restaurants, bars and nightclubs lining up the town. Near to the hotel is the legendary coconut's nightclub, where hotel guests have free access. The hotel has one of the best restaurants in the area, with minimalist design and an outdoor cafe it serves Mediterranean fusion style cuisine and is in the hands of German chef Bernhard Pfister.
