After a long and eventful history and a number of uses, Casa Gangotena was opened as a luxury boutique hotel in 2011, and now offers exclusive boutique accommodation, fine cuisine and top-class service in a matchless historic setting.A fabulous setting for relaxing stays in the lap of luxury in the heart of this historic city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978, Casa Gangotena is just a short walk from many of Quito's most emblematic landmarks and attractions, including the Plaza San Francisco itself, the church of La Compañía de Jesús, the Museum of the City, the Plaza Santo Domingo, the Presidential Palace, cultural centres and the bustle of Quito's Old Town and historic quarters. The hotel has just 31 sumptuous rooms and suites, all carefully decorated with magnificent antique and art-deco furniture, rich carpets and fabrics, unique murals, along with a full range of high-tech amenities. For fine dining experiences, Casa Gangotena is home to the award-winning Cedrón Restaurant, where guests can enjoy gourmet cuisine based on the flavours and colours of Ecuador, from the highlands to the pacific coast, accompanied by a selection of more than 100 fine wines from the hotel's cellar. Type of rooms: Casa GangotenaLuxury Rooms:Casa Gangotena's Luxury rooms invite guests to relax in style, enjoying the peace created by its luxurious upholstery, plush carpets, fine linen and rich furnishings which adorn each room. They either have views to the charming Calle Cuenca to the west, to the garden, or, in the case of the third floor, to beautiful prospects of the south and great sights of the monumental Virgin of Quito, atop the El Panecillo Hill. These rooms come with either two-full size beds or king-size beds. One room is especially adapted for guests with special physical needs. The 21 Luxury rooms are distributed in the following way: two on the ground floor, seven on the first floor, six on the second floor and two on the third floor. There are 14 rooms boasting two full-size beds (double) and seven rooms with king-size beds. One room is especially adapted for guests with special physical needs. Luxury Plus Rooms: The Luxury Plus room occupies the end of the south-western wing of the property. Striking neoclassical columns rise around the room, topped with ornate stucco-work, which interrupts the floral Art Nouveau frieze that runs around the cornicing. One wall is entirely taken up with an original mural of an Italian lake landscape, awash in blues and soft tones. The bathroom is particularly attractive, with two large windows facing west and south, elegant columns and a decadent feel. Plaza View Rooms: The eight Plaza View rooms bathed in golden light in the mornings and resplendently floodlit at night, enjoy wonderful views across Plaza San Francisco. They are perfect rooms for guests who want to feel close to the city's hum, watching its life pass by at the large and historic square from the tall, handsome French windows. The 8 Plaza View rooms are distributed between the first and second floor. Three of them boast two full-size beds and the remaining five rooms feature king-size beds. Junior Suite: The Junior Suite is one of the most special rooms in the house. This room used to be the "tea room" of the Gangotena family. Situated on the first floor, the spacious Junior Suite features an original restored mural. The Junior Suite overlooks the garden and the Panecillo hillside. Balcony Junior Suite: At the end of the south-western wing of the property, on the first floor, the Balcony Junior Suite is undeniably romantic: with a balcony overlooking the inner garden and picturesque views of the Virgin of Quito atop her hillside. Neoclassical stucco columns adorn the room. The bathroom is hugely inviting, with two large windows that draw in the Andean light, while beautiful columns and black-and-white veined marble complete the picture. The balcony is a perfect add on, where guests can enjoy the view of El Panecillo Hill with its giant Virgin statue, relax with a book or have a romantic breakfast. Suite: At the end of the western wing of the property, on the first and second floors, two Luxury Rooms are inter-connected, providing more space for families a. Both of them can be converted into Suites. One of the rooms remains the same, with one king-size bed, while the connecting room can be arranged according to guests' needs: with beds, sofas, desks - whatever the requirement, Casa Gangotena will be glad to fulfil it. These rooms overlook the garden and receive the best afternoon light of the hotel, having the Pichincha Volcano right beyond some hills.
