Description: Mauritzbergs SlottMauritzbergs Slott stands picturesquely on a cliff on the south coast of Bråviken bay in the County of Östergötland. Most of the rooms offer a beautiful view of the sea, while the surrounding park belongs to the manor and has many alleys and the old "lovers' walk" is an absolute dream. The buildings in the manor grounds enclose a typical 17th Century courtyard. Mauritzberg appeared in history books for the first time during the 16th Century under the name of Björnsätter. Ever since 1592 when the manor was owned by Ebba Grip, a descendant of the manors first owner, Birger Nilsson Grip, women have been of great significance to the history and future of the manor. The manor was purchased 1990 by Liisa Lipsanen, Style Invest Ab. Since acquiring it Liisa Lipsanen has restored and furnished the manor as an aristocratic home where the original environment has been faithfully preserved and no pains have been spared to create a completely unique milieu. Down by the shore there is the manor's own chapel which can be used for special occasions such as concerts and weddings. It was built in the 1700's and is one of a few free-standing manor-house chapels in the country. There is also an exhibition gallery which was an old stable renovated into a 250 m2, 6 metre high, vaulted gallery for exhibitions, concerts, banquets and summer balls, it can be hired on request. The old mill laundry cottage has been renovated as a charming summer cafe where one can sit both indoors and outdoors and on some days artists also provide entertainment. Being 10 metres from the manor, proximity to the water has always played a great role in the activities. Through Bråviken Bay you can reach out into the Baltic Sea using marked navigable channels, the manor's bridge and harbour for guest boats is at your disposal. Nearby there are many interesting places for sightseeing, like the Kolmården Open Air Zoo, the Ruined Manor at Stegeborg, the Göta Canal and St Anna's archipelago.
