Icon of the most exclusive ski, in the Swiss region of Saanenland, canton Bern, Gstaad has forged its legend as a destination chosen by artists, jet-set celebrities and members of European royalty. Its history took off linked to the arrival of the train at the beginning of the 20th century. Shortly afterwards, the private elite school Le Rosey was installed there, which in the snowy season moved its students to Gstaad.
The luxury in the snow is currently translated in more than 200 kilometers of tracks of very diverse nature. With the possibility of skiing in the Glacier at 3000 meters high, enjoy snow parks, sledding tracks or cross-country skiing.
|
For those who prefer not to wear skis, there are other incentives. Crossing the long Peakwalk suspension bridge is an experience, overlooking Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the European Union. Or go shopping at the Promenade, Gstaad's main street truffled by luxury brands.
It is also a first-class gastronomic destination, ranging from sophisticated restaurants to the food truck parked on the snowy peaks. Paradise in Gstaad continues when the snow season ends. Several hundred kilometers of trails invite to trekking and mountain biking. The Alpine style is a brand of the house in the charming boutique hotels in the area. |
