Having been restored and renovated with the utmost care, this manor house dating from the Seventeenth Century has been converted into a boutique hotel where peace and tranquillity reign. The San Roque Manor-Hotel preserves all the features of traditional architecture, showing them in their maximum splendour by expertly combining the full power of the historic past with contemporary esthetic. The final brushstroke in this project is the constant attention given to those who wish to spend their holidays in beautiful, peaceful surroundings and a calm, friendly atmosphere. Furthermore, visitors can take this opportunity to discover the Isla Baja (Lower Island) area, a little known part of Tenerife that has managed to retain the original flavour and the heritage of its towns and villages, along with the wild beauty of its mountains and coasts.

San Roque is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating hotels in the Canary Islands. The abandoned 17th Century mansion which once belonged to the de Ponte family (who were the founders of the village) was discovered by the Frenchman Dominique Carayon in 1992. It was his love of the arts along with the inspiration and help of the Spanish architect Jose Luis Adelantado which turned the old mansion into the beautiful hotel that it is today. The design is based upon a deliberate combination of new and old, wood and steel, geometric shapes, and warm earthy colours. As you enter the San Roque you are immediately presented with an impressive modern steel sculpture placed in the centre of it's old courtyard. The San Roque also offers a variety of works created by famous Bauhaus designers, such as Le Corbusier, Mies van de Rohe, Eileen Grey and others like Charles Mackintosh, from the Glasgow school. The quality of furnishings and décor are of a uniformly high standard. Not one of the 20 rooms is alike. Each room has its own unique design. Some suites have a split-level layout.

'Elegant but not over done' is the spirit at San Roque -as Dominique would say- and that he can do in 4 languages! It is in this overwhelming, noble, yet relaxing atmosphere that you are invited to make yourself at home- whether you choose a cosy corner to read a book, to watch the sunset from the patio on the roof or to have a lovely meal beside the swimmingpool, personally prepared by the lady of the house, Laly. The hotel runs its own restaurant with a first-class wine cellar. The key to everything here is to relax and 'take your time'.

The Hotel San Roque sits right in the middle of the historic village of Garachico, one hour's drive away from Reina Sofia Airport. The flight from London takes less than 4 hours.

Type of rooms: San Roque

8 Double Rooms: The room has more than 20 m² distributed on a single floor. The client may choose between twin beds or double bed. All of them are in different colors and furniture by Rennie Mackintosh. The standard double room has every amenity suitable of higher class rooms (Jacuzzi bathtub, flat screen TV, DVD) the only difference being the size of the room. The hotel also has two intercommunicating double rooms for families. In this way, and with a capacity for 2 adults and 3 children, you can independently enjoy all the comforts of the hotel.
8 Duplex: Duplexes have more than 35 m² distributed on two floors, with double bed. On the bottom floor the duplex has a lounge with flat-screen TV, DVD and CD hi-fi, writing desk and complete bathroom with rectangular Jacuzzi. On the top floor is the bedroom with flat-screen television, DVD and mini bar and air conditioning. All the duplexes have a skylight in the upper part.
2 Junior Suites: The Junior Suite offers more than 40 m² on one floor, with a king size bed (2×2 m). It also has a lounge, full bathroom and round Jacuzzi bath integrated into the bedroom.
The hotel has two rooms in this category:
Room 110 has large bay windows in the bedroom and two windows in the bathroom. It is decorated with furniture by Eileen Gray. Apart from the Jacuzzi in the bedroom, the bathroom has a hydro-massage shower. In a special cabinet is a flat-screen TV, with DVD, mini bar and hi-fi music.
Room 119, with view of the swimming pool courtyard, is decorated with furniture by R. Mackintosh and has blue tones on the walls and a worked Valencia ceramic installation according to the 18th century technique on the round Jacuzzi. In a special cabinet is a flat-screen TV, with DVD, mini bar and hi-fi music.
1 Duplex Suite: The room has more than 42 m² distributed on two floors. This room has a double bed. On the bottom floor the duplex has a very spacious lounge, a mini bar, big flat-screen TV, DVD and hi-fi, desk and complete bathroom with Jacuzzi. On the top floor is the bedroom with wardrobe, flat-screen television and DVD. The room has a skylight at the top and two spacious windows on the ground floor.
1 Suite La Torre (The Tower): The room has more than 50 m² distributed over three floors. This room has a double bed (king size). On the bottom floor the suite has a lounge, a mini bar, TV, DVD and hi-fi, writing desk and full bathroom with Jacuzzi. The main bedroom is on the second floor and also has a mini-bar, large flat screen TV, DVD, hi-fi and air conditioning. Both floors have four portholes with impressive views of the sea and of the village of Garachico. On the top floor, the Tower has a terrace-solarium to enjoy the sun, the sea and to rest in privacy.
